What size soldering iron for climate control repairs?

Sorry for dumb newbie question, but....
Am trying to do climate control repairs as suggested by STICKY, and Radio Shack sells several different sizes/wattages of soldering irons. I am going to resolder the boards on my climate control and cruise control as he describes. Should I use the 15 watt or 25 watt model? Thanks...

The only time you really need a higher wattage soldering iron is if you're doing thick gauge wires. Which I'm sure there aren't any in an ACC unit! A 15 watt iron is plenty big, but there is nothing wrong with a 25 or even a 35 watt iron. I believe my 'main' soldering iron (as I have many of them laying around) is a 35 watt. Just be careful to not overheat the components. I have killed chips and capacitors this way before.

Ditto. I use a 25 watt for most stuff. If your quick you'll not hurt most things from heat. See my cruise amp thread for a few more things..
