Where would I get these W123 Euro Headlights from?

If anyone knows a website or anything really about where to get these Euro headlights please help. Thanks.

To start with, you should know that the lights in the picture are the early versions. These are correct for 123's up to about early 1980 I think. After that time, the Euro lights had lenses and reflectors that were more rectangular.

Secondly, there are many sources. I would start by contacting Phil at Fastlane on this site. If that doesn't work, post back here and I will list some other sources.

Good luck,

According to the late style Euro lights in my garage=0)

THe box says 1979/9-1985. Hence early style must be pre Sept 79. Seems like I've seen a 3rd style too where the glass was not flush and looked even more like the US style.

My late model set are forsale$$. Nice condition, got a newer benz.

Yes, I forgot about the lenses with round depressions in them.

Structure, it sounds like samiam has what you're looking for. When installing, you will have to take the cap off of your US headlight connectors and move the pins around inside to match the Euro light connection pinout. If samiam can't provide the pinout information, I will try to find the time to look at the connector on my 240D so you will know which wire to put where.

Good luck,

If anyone else has head light door (suround plastic) and lights available please contact me. While Euro would be very NICE I guess US would be fine too. (1983 300D)

My stuff has to be replaced its broken and at least one light is bad anyway.

Coach, you're better off buying new doors. The used ones are all junk, because they take all the abuse of life on the highway (rocks, bugs, etc) plus UV rays damage the plastic.

Is your new 300D in that good a shape that you're worried about such a piddly thing as headlight doors?

Maybe you should make sure it's nailing and not knocking before you spend any more money. (kidding!)

Larry,

Glad to see you back for a time. Yes, I actually removed them yesterday and marked down the pin locations. I naturally comes with connectors.
Now I've got to still figure out the US headlight pin out configuration=0)

I was going to put them in the forsale section(?) and see what happens. If no hits in the next week or so... I'll ebay liquidate them.
Perfect shape. I just was given my grandmothers W124.030 hence the W123 has to go. We've got 2 drivers and 5 vehicles.

The round style Euro lights, from what I have read in earlier threads on the subject, were the type installed on the diesel W123 models while the rectangular type were installed on the gas powered models. I installed the rectangular type on my '85 300D and they are sensitive to any vibration caused by the engine. I would imagine the round style are designed to handle the diesel vibrations a bit better than the rectangular ones.
I honestly have never liked the round style. I remember when I saw the first W123's introduced in 1977 with the round lights, I thought they looked hideous. That was the first thing I changed on my car after I got it.

The W123 200 and 230 gassers had the round E-code lights as well. The 230E got rectangular lights when the 230 faded. I don't know if the 200 continued with round lights through 85. I think the 250 had rectangular lights. The 280/Es had rectagular lights from day 1.

I like the round E-code lights myself which is what attracts me to the otherwise nondescript (to me) current crop of MBs. Not that the W140 is a styling milestone

Wow, so this means the lights in my Euro '84 240D are correct. They are the same as in the picture at the beginning of this thread.

Is this correct?

Have a great day,

How can I contact Phil at fastlane? I contacted Rusty at www.*************** , asking about the Euro lights. I'm just waiting for him to get back to me. I love the classic look of those Euro lights. I want to keep the car OEM. So, that's why I'm going with the round euro lights instead of the square looking ones that were put on the Gas w123's. Thanks for all your help guys. I would love for you to list more sources too.

To contact Phil click on the Fastlane button at the top of the page. There's a phone number and email address there.

I believe one key difference between the round and rectagular E-codes is that the rectangular ones support remote beam adjustment while the round ones don't.

My neighbors when I was outside the US got a brand new Euro-spec 83-ish 300Dt back in... uhh... 83-ish. I remember going through it with a fine tooth comb comparing it with their US-spec 77 300D. Spotted things like the joggle in the wiper arms, deeper A-pilar channel, extra black strip in the C-pilar channel, slimmer front seatbacks, etc. I wouldn't put big money on it but I'm pretty sure it had round E-code lights.

Do you know what year the car in the pic is??

I've heard you mention your lighting problem before in other forums. Are those Bosch or Hella lights in your car? I've never had a problem with lights and vibration in my 123.130.

There was definately a split in 1979. Maybe your talking early vs later style. Hella vs Bosch and not diesel vs Non-diesel.
