Yes, that's a pretty good price for the metal version. I bought the plastic one for $26 at AutoZone. Comes with all the same accessories but not the fancy carrying case.

Hello,
I would strongly recommend getting the metal Mity Vac Silver line edition as the link suggests above at Harbor Freight. I have broken 2 plastic versions already and in my opinion I have not abused the pumps. One pump actually simply won't hold vacuum and it initially caused me to mis-diagnose stuff until I realized the vacuum pump was bad.

If you can aford the extra bucks, spend a little extra and get the metal one - you won't regret it.

thanks for the link.
They say the reservoir is included for bleeding brakes. Anybody used this tool for that?

Bleeding brakes

I have always used one of those hoses with the ball valve in them for bleeding which is based on the master cylinder pushing fluid to the brake to bleed the system.

When I bought my mity vac, with the bleeder the first thing I did was my 240 and man it made the job easy. You can sit right there with it, watching the fluid (ugh) and do the job without having to go pump the brake then guess if the line still has air.

In other words, it worked great for me.

If you're using it for brake bleeding, make sure the line is a very tight fit on the bleeder screw. Mine wasn't tight enough, this producing a constant stream of bubbles when I pumped it down. So I could never be sure that all the air was out. The Motive Products power bleeder seems like a much better solution for brakes.

I too have had a tough time using my MityVac to bleed the brakes. Opening up the bleed screws enough to get decent flow going lets air get drawn in around the threads. Open the bleed screws just a little and I got either little/no flow or had to up the vacuum to the point I got air in around the hose. Obviously some people can make it work but personally I second Rick's comment, use a pressure bleeder and save the MityVac for other chores.

I second adamb's comment

not only is the metal unit a better one, it can be rebuilt with a kit. The plastic one cannot.

just my $.02,

Wes
