oil in boost line near ALDA
Hi,
In the boost line that goes from the manifold to the ALDA, I have some oil in the line. The thing is, the line is translucent and white from the banjo to the valve, and then after the valve, it is still translucent white until near the ALDA, where it gets yellowish then brownish, then black, as if full of oil. I know boost gets out of the manifold to the valve, as thats where my boost gauge is teed in. WHat might this be indicative of? After driving a nearly identical 300D as mine, I have found that it had a lot more power (not that mine is a slug in any way), and so have to wonder if maybe my ALDA is shot or something... Any help would be great. Thanks, JMH

The ALDA generally doesn't have a problem, some people try to adjust it for a little more power from time to time. As for the black stuff in the line, if it is flowing oil I'd be very concerned about the blowby and the oil seperator. However, I really doubt it is oil, it is most likely carbon from your EGR valve this is quite normal. Typically the bolt at the end where it goes into the manifold is where it is clogged though, try to get this line as clean as possible and see if your performance increases.

See, thats the odd thing... It isnt at the end where the banjo bolt is. And, even if it was blowby vapors, Id think it would clog up the safety valve up there before getting to the ALDA. But, the only place where the line isnt clear and clean is at the ALDA.
Kind of the reverse of usual, I guess... JMH
