Even if you burn veggie, you can't get away from the NOxs.

In trials with the bus, adding the plasmatron and an adsorption catalyst exhaust-treatment system resulted in removal of up to 90% of NOx emissions, says Daniel Cohn of MIT's Plasma Science and Fusion Center.
The plasmatron reformer also cut the amount of fuel consumed by the catalytic converter: "The adsorption catalyst system under consideration requires additional fuel," he says, "but the plasmatron reduced its fuel consumption by a factor of two." Cohn noted that the plasmatron reformer also allowed the NOx absorption catalyst to be effective at the low exhaust temperatures characteristic of urban use.
