rear badges question
is there a trick to removing the rear badges? is it pushed out from the back or pryed out from the front?

They pry out from the front. Be careful what you use to pry them off with so as not to damage them and the paint behind them.

There's a transition point in the 80s when MB switched from badges that have pins that go into the trunk to badges that use adhesive. I belive the 123s are the last of the pin type badges. That's why you see 126s and 201s and beyond with the badges on the right or too high, etc.
If you can push the pins from behind, there's less risk to the paintwork. Sixto 95 S420 87 300SDL |

I even think there was a badge delete option, before they switched to the stick on type. I have seen a few American w123s with no badges, and with original paint, so, I know the holes weren't filled in...

on the 84 190's, the 190D is done by pins, whereas the 2.2 is done by adhesive. I think it may have been the transition.
