block heater cord

This morning, 14 degrees F, gf attempts to unplug the block heater from the extension cord, and pulls the entire male end off the block heater cord, amidst a little flash of light/jolt of electricity...

So, now I have a frayed, fried-up looking cord hanging from the front bumper... and no block heater.

Think it is possible to repair the cord, i.e. slice in some new cord with a new male end on it? I really hope I needn't replace the whole thing, surely not-

Advice?

Thanks,

JAS
