Done that before. I heard stories of Caterpillar guys using a burning rag on the end of a stick and sucking the flames in to start. I may try that......on someone else's vehicle

I heat the intake manifold when glow plugs are out,and spray propane when ready to start.

I use the Hunter Thompson method -- I keep an ether soaked rag on the floorboard while I'm driving.
