So much done, still having problems...
Hey Fellers,
A few months ago I posted about the problems with my 220D smoking. The car was having a hard time cold tarting, and would spew tons of white, unburned diesel smoke cold and hot. I have recently spent lots of money fixing up the brakes, suspension, vacume pump, oil pan, ignition switch, and various other issues the car was having. I also tried to fix the smoking problem. After testing the compression (good) and having the injectors cleaned and reset, the car still smoked. I found a great deal on a remanufactured injection pump. So, I had a shop install it. The mechanic I chose took months to get it done, and didn't know diesels very well . He messed up on timing the IP several times apparently, but I am not sure I trust him. So, the car has good compression, a new IP, and decent injectors (I hope.). But now, the car is far worse!!! It is almost impossible to cold start. Takes mabye 30 seconds to a minute of turning over to finally catch and start running. Once it warms up, it runs okay. I think it has a miss though. On top of that, it has very slow throttle response. It is almost impossible to drive because it has almost no power and takes seconds to rev up to a decent accelerating RPM, without the clutch even engaged!! I dont know what to do. The car feels like it is running on 2 or 3 cylinders or something. The mechanic I dealt with knows nothing, and I need to get this car straightened out soon. Can any one give me some suggestions?
