W123 Wheel Arch Plastic Lining/cover Question

Hello all

i am working on my engine bay/front end and getting ready for a respray...working in there for a bit now ive found some rott under the lovely rubber and have been rebuilding it all...

this is my question -

i want to help stop water from spraying up in there and getting lost under the rubber -

in the junkyard one day i THINK I RECALL a 280 that had full plastic linings that were in the wheel arches and covered most all of the inner wheel wells...seems to me like that might help the water from splashing around in there...

any info help would be great - thanks all
Jake

heres a pict i found of what would be great-
