different propeller shaft lengths....info needed

Hello all

i am trying to stuff a manual tranny into my muttmobile...however the automatic tranny is about 3" longer than the manual i can use...so - i need to make a new propeller shaft.

Does anyone know if the W123 chassis car had different length shafts available? I have a 230 and the shaft was straight...we pulled a larger more plump looking shaft from under the bench and it is the same length with same spline, same nut....can not find a part number, could it be a w126 w124 part, i dont think it matters.

i am talking about the shaft from the tranny to the carrier bearing.

thanks a lot
Jake
