Smile My parents are looking to buy a new 320CDI

Looks like it's finally going to happen. After considering many different makes, it looks like my folks are going to buy a new : 320CDI. I've been calling a few different dealers for info and passing it on to them. They seem to have lots of options available, which ones should be avoided and which ones are a must?

Me OTH, wouldn't if I could. It's just too much money to spend on any car.
But hey it' s their nickle and I'll get to drive it now and then.

Hey, if you have the resources, why not? Not everyone's a bottom feeder. You gonna be buried beside your doubloons?

The downside is that the cheapest diesel here is $2.599.

I absolutly love that car, but unfortionatly its the worst reliable car for 2005. The only option I would get would be the fold down rear seat to minimize the amount of electronics that could go bad. The base is still really nice, you don't really give up much.

Go easy on the fancy stuff : the more electronics the more there is to go wrong.

Lighting package is the must have: Active Xenons are great. Parking aid helpful but otherwise they are pretty well specified.

Premium Sound System if you must but options do add up quick!

I know a lot of people like the new Benzes but I'm not one of them. Honestly, I wouldn't trade any of my cars for a CDI, unless I could sell the CDI. Though I admire the latest diesel technology that has gone into this car and I like the interior, I really wouldn't want to pay over 50K for a car that looks so plain from behind. It's easy to mistake it for a Ford Taurus.

New V6

If I had the option of purchasing one I would wait for the new V6 diesel with the seven speed tranny. I think it has it all over the present E320 diesel

I'd buy one in a second if I was in the market for a new "E". They are actually cheaper than the E320 Gasser. Fast as hell, too. I don't see many around for some reason.. even around here I think I've only seen 3 on the road to date.. see tons and tons of E320 gassers and E500's, though.

Me neither, I've also seen tons of E320 gassers, the only cdi I have seen is over at the o'l dealer...they have one there...or did....it probably was sold by now...however, out driving around I've never seen one yet.

Great car! Leaps and bounds ahead of the older models. (duck )

Get the upgraded sound system and better lights. But I wouldn't opt for the nav system.

I'd buy an E320CDI in a second if I had the money.

Do you know - so many peoples are buying new cars and don't know why.
You know why Ford looks similar to Mercedes - because every body like
to show the best.
If you know Mercedes don't make cars which one looks like others?
Buy and enjoy - price is just a number if you have - get one.
Or buy others makes and dream, you own a car?
Knowledge is making peoples to believe - if peoples don't know nothing, cant believe in something.

Regards.

Well I see what DieselAddict meant by that...take a W123 and compare it with a Ford of the same era and they will look nothing alike...in fact nothing really looks like the W123, except maybe those Volvos, if they're far away and you see em from behind. Most new cars look too similar to me as well.
