My 76 240 D has a hot battery, the ground wire is tight, the battery cables have good connections, and there are no blown fuses that I can find. But, the car is dead as a hammer. The ignition will not come on. The Head lights won't come on. The brake lights don't come on when I push the brake pedel. I have no idea what to do next. HELP!!! Mark
Oh yeah, the clock is running and the rear interior light works as well as the trunk light. Thanks Mark

If I remember correctly the path from the battery goes to the large terminal of the starter then to a junction on the right frame (three philips screws gathering the wires). From there it goes to the light switch and then to the ignition.
I would look to that junction block or the light switch. Probably the light switch as the things that are working are unswitched constant hot devices that should be after the light witch, I think.
