Buzzing when you open the door.

i just bought a 1984 grey market 300D N/A 4 speed. now when the key is out and you open the driver or passanger door theres a buzzing. it buzzes for about 5 seconds then goes out. now if you close the door and open it again it doesnt go on. confused:

Any ideas? thanks

My euro car buzzes when you open the driver or passenger door, too but stays on as long as it's open.

Congrats on your new car. With my Euro there is a feature that I really like. No annoying buzzer when you leave the keys in the ignition, BUT you get the buzzer if you open the door and have not turned off the headlights or parking lights.

If you have electric windows, electric seats, or an electric sunroof see if they operate while the key is removed and the buzzer is on. If so then this is a convenience feature that permits you to operate a window, or some other electric accessories, within 5 - 10 seconds of having removed the ignition key. The buzzer buzzes to remind you of this capability.

Otherwise I am stumped.

Interesting thing I noticed today, the buzzer was buzzing intermittently on my 300D when I had the door open and the car was running.
I think my buzzer is finally giving out since when I start the car without my seatbelt on, it only buzzes for a split second and that's all. YAY!

My buzzer will sometimes buzz weakly if I open the door with my foot on the brake (while the engine is running).

this car has manual windows, manual seats, manual sunroo. manual trans, and no A/C. i have no idea what that buzzing is but it has nothing to do with the buzzing that comes on when you open the door with the engine running, keys in the ignition, or the lights on. this one has me stumped.
