That thing looks just like the one in my '80 300TD. Mine was found under the seat. Now I can try to put it back where it belongs... Thanks.

Mine was sitting on the aircleaner in the 85 300TD I just bought. I almost threw it out and then thought nah - better put it where it belongs, on top of the dryer, with all the other bits and pieces. Now I know where it goes - beauty! I only have one though. I did look for somewhere obvious for it to live under the hood and there isn't one on the other side- I guess one is better than none.

I never throw out any parts that I find in my car broken or unbroken before I find out if they really belong to the car. I found an interesting collection of nuts and bolts when I removed the seats to clean out any trash that had collected there over the years.
I also found quite a bit of change as well.:D

I'm finding it fascinating to see how this little rubber part makes its way around everyone's cars. What is it about this little part that makes it get into people's dashes, under their seats, etc.?

Is it that when parts and other items are tossed under the seat they are out of sight and out of mind as well?
