My car died?

I needed a new waterpump after briefly overheating one day due to a leak. That was in the Fall. Over the Winter, I drove my truck, and started the MB like one time, drove it around the block and put it back in the garage, with it getting hot but not in the "red". Now I think my battery is dead. Is this common? It wioll go through the glow plug cycle, but it wont crank the motor. I guess I'm kind of worried that my motor has siezed up. Is this a possibility? I'll try to jump it today. I need to turn it around in the garage to work on it.

If the battery hasn't been run up to charge since Fall, I'd sure charge it up before I assumed anything about ANY other systems on the car.

Well, I took the battery out and took it to a shop and it was really dead, so they charged it. I'll pick it up tomorrow. I sort of panicked like a geek, there, but when I open the hood and look at the motor I suddenly feel retarded. We'll see how th ewater pump goes...

Orkrist,

No, your car didn't die, your battery became discharged. Common problem when batteries sit for a while without being charged by the alternator. You might think of getting a trickle charger to put on your battery when its in storage.

If I opened the hood and saw a motor, I'd feel retarded too.

P.S. Its an ENGINE!

Yes, I occassionally try to be a mechanic. The problem is, I'm not. My attempt to replace the water pump ended in despair. I will now take it to my mechanic. I can handle very simple things, and yes, these cars are simple, but the damn radiator is connected to every system in the car. What ever happenned to a few screws and a couple hoses? Anyway, I suck as a mechanic, I can admit it.

Nice Mithril reference, although I do have the name mispelled. It should be Orcrist (and Glamdring).

P.E.H.
Don't ever join a Toyota or Honda hybrid board, it'll be way too confusing.
