300SD is engine dead??

This is an 83' 300SD, the picture I show has been taken under the car next to the transmison and engine, but im sure its part of the engine? is this maybe the work of pistons??? overheated pistons causing them to blow right through the floor! explain anyone who has any idea....thanks

is it fixable, or not?
