Need recomendations for Battery Charger/maintainer
I need to get a battery charger because my 25 year old one just died today while recharging my 300d (see previous post). I see Sears has some on sale this weekend... around $60 with lots of features.
Any suggestions as to correct size and good features that are useful on our big batteries? Am also considering one of the solar powered trickle chargers for long term use. What is the difference between the $25 ones at the local Pep Boys and the $90 ones from Pulse Tech... are they worth the extra money? Thanks

Do you want something to charge the battery or maintain it while in storage?
I use a Battery Tender Jr. It works on my motorcycle as well as the Benz. It is good if you are just storing vehicles. Cheap stuff at motorcycle accessory warehouse

These are often on sale for $9.99. Watch for them on sale if you are an occasional "Harbor Freight Abuser" on a bender , and throw one in as a filler on an order. Strictly a "maintainer", NOT a charger. I've used one with no complaints, but I rewired my cigar outlet for an "always on" configuration so it would work while parked for a day or two. As a charger, I use an old Sears with a ammeter and it works for glowplug testing also.
