Need tranny advice ASAP
Weel, got the fuel problem out of the way, now it's the tranny. Got stuck in stop and go traffic for 45 min. and all of a sudden the tranny starts not engaging. Limp off the highway, let it cool a little, and it's going again. Bag heading home, and with no traffic the other way, it's fine doing 75, then it starts doing it again, not grabbing in any gear. Checked the fluid, seems to be the right level. Any tips?

Must be transmission season!
![]() I would put some Trans-X in it and follow the directions on the bottle (drive for a while through all gears and then change fluid and filter). Might get you going again and might not. Sounds like it's either worn badly or badly out of adjustment though. Search all the links in the recent threads too.

It was running fine, and it is definetly not a vacuum problem, and it wouldn't go into reverse so maybe not B2 piston, and just drove it after cooling off and its back to normal, but can't be letting it get me stranded.

Does the tranny fluid smell burnt? When was the last time you changed the filter and fluid. I wouldn't add any additives to the fluid. A filter an fluid change can't hurt and above all use a good quality fluid.
