300SD Engine donors?

Can anyone tell me what cars I should I consider for a donor engine for a 300SD?
I have'nt had a chance to get a good up close look at the SD yet, so I'm not sure of the year (bundt wheels if that helps). Body looks good from afar. I'm told that it needs an engine and the owner might be inclined to sell it cheap.

Just looking for some advanced info. before I approach the owner.
