LF&RR window fuseA on 1983 300SD

I have 1983 300SD. I hace searched the forum and cand find specific information on how to trouble shoot LF and RR window not working. When it first happened I went to the fuse box and wiggled The appropriate fuse A which is is one of 4 square aluminum boxes which appear to be relay/fuses. After removing and replacing wiggling etc. the windows worked for a while, then quit again. I then switched fuse A with Fuse B and it worked for a while again and quit, so I switched them again moving all 4 identical switch boxes around. The LF and RR Fuse position A continued not to work, ie the windows don't move. with any fuse, but all the others worked in the other places. I tried to get a look at the fuse holders and look at the wires coming in but the main box has wiring harnesses coming in in all directions and it looks impossible to see into the bottom of the box. Should I check the switched on the console for power . I would assume by these symtoms that there will be none.
Is ther an easy way to inspect the wires leading to the fuse holder(female pins), then find out which pin and wire supplys power to the console switch on fuse A . Also on this model , If I must checkconsole switches, is the removal as I read," thru 2 screws under the ashtray and slide wood panel holding all switches to rear of car? Any help will be appreciated as it is getting hotter each day and the aircon doesn't work either, of course.

It would appear that you are removing and replacing the relays, which are inside the fuse box. These have nothing to do with the operation of the windows. There is one fuse which controls the LF and RR windows. Although I cannot remember the number, this fuse will most likely be your problem. The fuses are sitting forward of the relays in two distinct banks in the front of the fuse box. Find the fuse that controls these two windows (it is the same fuse) and replace it. If you are getting intermittent operation from these windows, it would be a good idea to replace ALL the fuses as the copper (or aluminum) degrades with time and develops cracks.

If you cannot determine which fuse it is (there is a listing on the inside of the cover) then post again and I will go out and determine the fuse number for you on the SD.

fuse A

I think what you are actually looking for is one of the front far outside fuses. They are numbered but you have to look very, very closely to read the numbers/letters.
Try just rotating the fuses around in the holders a little bit. If that does it you may need to clean the contact plates and closely inspect all the fuses in the box.

problem solved

Thanks Brian and fisherman You are absolutely correct and problem solved . The fuses that run the windows are the small ceramic fuses small a and b not capital A&B which are relays. Funny thing though, is that the code card in the lid was wrong as b&a are the reverse of what is printed. The card say it is for USA version. I think this car was bought new in Canada with KM on odometer so perhaps this is the reason. anyway thanks for your quick and easy solution.
