99 E300 Center Console design
Not really a diesel-specific question even thought it's a diesel car... What is up with the design of the center console storage bins? There is an opening in the "top" compartment, so anytime you have something smallish in there (like toll coins, etc.) and lift the "bottom" compartment, it goes sliding back and falls into the bottom compartment. Am I missing something here? Kinda silly...

There was originally a plug in that opening. It was designed to snap out (one time only) when the optional phone was installed.
