240d vacuum system issues

This site is awesome! Thanks in advance for any info you can provide.
My 1982 240d recently had the following occur the same day that I changed the oil and filter.

1. The vacuum locks stopped working
2. The engine won't shut off using the key
3. The transmission now shifts much better than before

Do I simply have a vacuum leak or could it be a more simple, specific problem?
