240d vacuum system issues
This site is awesome! Thanks in advance for any info you can provide.
My 1982 240d recently had the following occur the same day that I changed the oil and filter. 1. The vacuum locks stopped working 2. The engine won't shut off using the key 3. The transmission now shifts much better than before Do I simply have a vacuum leak or could it be a more simple, specific problem? |

You knocked a vacuum hose loose when doing the oil (assuming you changed the filter).
This happens all the time. Go look around the area by the oil housing (where the filter drops in) and you'll probably find a vacuum line that slipped out of its rubber hose. This causes a loss of vacuum so that doors, shut off, etc won't work. Regarding the tranny shifting better, that could easily be affected as well since it is vacuum regulated. Don
