123 wagon worth some body work?
I have a 1979 300TD, non-turbo wagon. It has a rebuilt engine that uses no oil. I rebuilt the hydraulic suspension when I bought it four years ago, the AC works great, and it's super handy. It does have the beginnings of some rust on the rear wheel arches. My body guy can get repair panels for each arch, and paint from the chrome trim down on both sides, front to rear (taking care of some gravel chips in the process), for around $1,400. Is it worth it?
Otherwise, the car is a real looker. It's in the dark green, with the tan interior, which is also in good shape. All other mechanical components are fine; tranny shifts nicely, brakes are good, ride is excellent.
I'd appreciate your views.
