Anyway to modify the drivers door lock so you don't have to use the key to lock it?

I was wondering if there is some way to modify the door lock on a W123 so you wouldn't have to use the key to lock it? I guess it's a German car sort of thing to keep you from locking your keys in the car but its getting a little old. I've never locked the keys in any car. I'd like to just be able to push down the button and have the door lock on its own just like the passenger side door.
Anyone ever try to modify it?
