Replacement Vacuum Hose

I plan on replacing some sections of vacuum hose in my sister's '84 300SD. Is there anything specific to the hose used on these diesels? I'd just hate to go get vacuum hose from the parts store, put it on and have the super-strong mercedes vacuum pump suck them shut.

I've noticed that are discrepancies in quality. Try to squeeze the hose shut with your fingers, good stuff is super tough, extremely difficult to collapse. I got mine at a german parts house, it is such a small amount that it is worth paying a little more than for the generic.
I was more concerned about degradation, though.
