Does 1981 w123 300D tranny have the infamous B2 piston going bad?
Can someone tell me if the tranny
in my 1981 w123 300D (722.118)has the infamous B2 piston? if so, has anyone changed theirs or had theirs go bad for 1981 or earlier 300D? (1982 and later seems to have a later 722.3xx transmission). (if so, is it part no. 107 270 04 32)? Car seems to have difficult getting into first. or at idle, car surges forward. Once shifting in Low going up a hill, shift was missed and it seemed like it went to neutral instead. once under way, seems to shift ok. So, anyone have the b2 piston problem in a w123 300D 1981 and earlier (722.118 transmission)? is there a different b2 piston part number for the 722.18 tranny? (The part number 107 270 04 32 seems to be for 722.3 82 and later trannies.) also does the 722.18 have the k1 spring mentioned for 722.3/4 trannies? thanks. Hello, I haven't heard of the722.118 series having an Achilees heal B2 piston like the 722.3xx series transmissions. But, if you need one, I think I have a good used one from a 240 722.117 that I believe is the same piston. I can check if you're interested.
