challenged?
Believe hp rating of 240 d was boosted up from 67hp by seven horsepower in eary eightys. Do not like your challenge though as was pretty sure we dominated one end of the speed spectrum with our 240ds. I was stopped by police once and given a parking ticket even. Tried run at drag strip for numbers last year. It became dark as i was approaching the timing lights so still do not have good numbers. Really notice far less fuel milage in my super engine in the newer 240d and have not investigated why yet. My old 67hp 1979 gives great milage though. Hope is just lack of good maintenance as the larger engined one is a recent aquisition and will check it over in spring. As for speed and power one can really say the 240ds vary enormously it seems but sure the 190 has got to be quicker. Slower than a 240d I just cannot visulise. :sun_smile

go for the 300d
I knew I wanted a 300d w/ a manual tranny, it took almost 5 months for me to find it, but it was worth the wait. Reasonably quick acceleration, and I'm sure (as soon as a I fix my odometer) good fuel economy.
Handling is "marshmellowy" tho as someone else mentioned... Robert |

I'd like to drive a 190 sometime, but from looking them over in salvage yards, it's more of the same stuff that makes me miss my VW's... |
