Driver may well have survived if it is a left hand drive car. T-bone is weakest area in MB wrecks. (and probably most other cars).
Local MB salvage yard has over seven acres of cars. Only two cars in the whole place were fatalities. I think in one of them the whole car was pretty much flattened by a big truck or something. Other one was a T-bone, as I recall. If I gotta be in a wreck, I wanna be in a Mercedes when it happens.

I believe the US government regulated special steel reinforcement bars for Mercedes back in the '70's to '80's.

The end result probably would've been better had it had been a US version.

Heck, that's no problem. I could fix it. I'd just need to replace everything in front of the license plate.

Bobk,

Your user ID indicates you are from Northern Kentucky. I am from Danville, KY (30 miles south of Lexington). I have an '83 300SD that I am looking for replacement parts. I have lived in Kentucky for only a couple of years and do not know what wrecking yard you are talking about. Could it be the one in Ft. Wright, KY?

I have gone through a T-Bone in a W123. . .everyone walked away. Mercedes are wonderfully made cars.

The impact must have been Head On

from the person who Hit the Mercedes.
I have a sad story to tell about being the first one on the scene of a Head-On collision in Lancaster, PA in which 3 people lost their lives. Both cars were compacts--after that, i swear I will try to drive something Larger...
