Final version of W210/E300 EGR defeat?

Hi guys,

I'm in the final stages of installing my dieselmeken IP after a day under the hood. New glowplugs; new fuel lines and filter; all timed up and ready to go.

As I button up the hard parts my attention is moving towards the EGR and tune.

What's the latest EGR mod? Are people still using KarTek's(sp?) diode and resistor mod?

I have those parts somewhere but there seemed to be a few different resistor values. What was the final version?

Thank you in advance!!

I'm using the one resistor + one diode mod. Works perfectly in my '98 E300.

I think this is the thread you're looking for: got it this time - egr bypass 606 turbo

Can you tell us more about your dieselmeken pump? What did you have done to it? The 7.5 mm elements? Does it all play nice with the E300's electronics, with no CEL or other issues? Or were other mods required to make it work? I've been thinking about having him tune my pump, but was concerned about the w210's electronics not liking it...

There's probably enough to merit a post...

I started with a bone stock '99 E300.

After making a few changes to the suspension we started on the motor.

The goal was eventually to make big power but to do it in steps that meant we could keep using it as a DD.

So it got the dieselmeken pump with 7.5mm elements setup for a mild tune. (I can't remember the flow off the top of my head but he ships the pumps with a data sheet.)

With just the pump done it cackled at idle or off throttle and produced prodigious amounts of smoke if you put your foot in it. More mindful throttle was rewarded with more power throughout the band but sacrificed the "big" hit that the stock car had when it kicked down a gear.

I just installed a seanyt ecu and I'm really happy with it.

The preignition is all but gone, it has much more power across the board, when it kicks down the power is back and then some.

I'm still making a lot of smoke in certain situations so I'm waiting to put a gauge in it before I really push too hard.

Fun.

Oh yeah... No CEL. Everything seems to be working happily.

All told I only have maybe 250-300 miles on it since the ECU went in.

More details on this one?

Is this the guy over in superturbodiesel forum who offers tune files on om606?

He sells ECUs? Or he sockets the ECU and then installs his own custom tune?

That’s correct. He sells socketed ECUs and can install programs to those chips before shipping.

My Dieselmeken pump (7.5mm) was obviously not living up to its potential before the ECU upgrade. With the ECU the power was where it was supposed to be and the engine sounded timed correctly as opposed to the cackle it had with the DM pump but stock ECU.

If I built another one the dieselmeken pump and modded ecu would be purchased together. I stopped tinkering on mine but it definitely neeeded more air; turbo upgrade was needed to maximize benefit from the other two upgrades.
