where does the propane get injected on a 617 300d and what kinda gains would i get using propane? how much gets injected and how long does a tank last? i wana do somthing to give me some decent power results

propane is bad for diesels. turn up the full load screw instead

I've experimented with it,going to make my own kit.Talk about power,and with wvo.I mist it before turbo,about 1 psi.4psi is far as I will take it.

That's quite popular in my neck of the woods with the diesel pickup crowd. Most are using THIS type of kit and just adding propane. It the equivalent to nitrous on the ricers.

Propane is pretty popular on the big pickups, no idea what sort of damage it could do to our old MBs though - usually the propane kits include a chip or re-flash of the computer so that it can monitor the vital signs. I imagine you could do the same with a bundle of gauges, but it seems complicated.

When you've reached the point that you can't get more fuel through the injection system, but you can still build more boost and have more air than you can supply the fuel for, then small amounts of propane can be added as the addtional fuel you're looking for. Until you reach that point though, you are better off pushing more fuel through the injection system IMO.

iv asked this before but never gotten a solid straight answer....

CAN I JUST TURN UP THE FULL LOAD SCREW AND GET MORE POWER WITHOUT TURNING OTHER SCREWS? JUST THE ONE.

propane is a fuel. nos adds oxygen.

I have used a propane injection system on my 99 F-350 with mixed results. First, there is more power but it is because of more fuel. Any other claims of magic are infinitesimal at best. Mileage off of the diesel tank was increased slightly, but at the expense of buying propane.

My initial thoughts of putting propane on the MB engines is no, primarily because they operate at such a low boost pressure. My truck propane system would not cut in until at least 5 lbs of boost and normal upper limits of boost on the 7.3 powerstroke is 17 lbs.

The advantage of propane over more diesel fuel is less smoke, however, there is a greater risk of overfueling too. Whatever you do, make sure that you have a fail-safe off position. In other words. should a valve on the propane system fail, it remains closed.

When I'm ready to build mine I will wire to kickdown switch under pedal.
My test was using a propane bottle with torch end removed,attached to line going behind glove box to engine breather.
It was stunning 0 to 60mph in the 12 sec range.

I don't suggest using a DIY propane setup. Systems like the Powershot 2000 when properly setup can be used effectively, but they're really really expensive. P2000 is boost proportionate, so it's not dumping the same amount of fuel into the combustion chamber when there's not a sufficient level of air with which to mix.

There is a guy that made his own for a Ford Truck.Real easy,with electric valve. It faults to closed posistion.

Answer: Yes. As stated previously, yank the rack limiter and have done with it. You will not need to do any other adjustments, the governor will function as it did before, but your pump will deliver more fuel.

That's not very impressive. My wagon with rack limiter delete and a poorly shifting transmission does that. What was the 0-60 before adding propane?

The stock boost level is about 12psi IIRC. If you were to have propane switch on at 5psi and increase proportionally with boost you could probably add a LOT of propane safely. I run ~16psi boost in my 617, and since I am cheap I would not build a proportional setup, but rather set the propane to come on all at once when the boost hits 15psi. This just requires a tank, a regulator, a pressure switch, and a solenoid.

That is a ridiculous answer.

I drove from GNV to Lakeland for Sun-n-Fun at an average speed of 21psi.
