The 83 started tonight. Won't shut off, but it started. Still have some things to do, but if we do come, it really looks like we can bring two cars. Yippee!! I'll keep you posted.

Feb 26. Car drove out of the garage, and around the yard. Very excited to have the major stuff done, now it's the little things, like all of the electrical stuff.

Feb 27. Car will not shift into 4th, unless I take foot off pedal and coast a little. Won't shut off either, but the leak is in the door locks somewhere. AC compressor is no good, although it once was. Guess sitting on a shelf in the garage killed it.

Mar 2 Got hood release cable and pull lever replaced, grille replaced, passenger power mirror working, rearview mirror replaced. Car still won't shut off, but haven't worked on it again.

Mar 3. Got the door handle replaced, windshield washer working, it still doesn't want to go into 4th too easily. Grrrr.

Mar 4. Got the vac leaks fixed, now it shuts off!! Replaced the power antenna, fixed rear passenger window.

the way things look right now I'm in, I will probably follow johnhef down and will bring a friend with his car.

EDIT: forgot to mention that I may have just come into possession of a 94 E320 with some sort of front end damage, I may be parting it out by the time the trip rolls around so let me know if anyone wants parts.

Hey ya'll, lets plan this thing! I'm getting antsy, my trips are usually fully planned at least 6 months in advance. If we get together on Saturday morning for breakfast, I'll have to leave the house about 4AM to make it in time... :(

as far as I know Kevin should be posting the info any day now. he's not set to return home though for at least another week so hopefully we'll hear from him on the road.

I'm in for the wright bros thing too, great idea. I plan on taking off work friday and leaving early that morning to head down, putting us there mid afternoon.

Ha, the unimog, yeah, it had crossed my mind if we were going to do any beach cruising since I can fit 12 in the back. I really don't drive it anywhere though except for parades and shows. I tow it everywhere else on the trailer and since Diesel is like 3.49, getting it there and back would be pretty expensive since the truck only gets 11 MPG while towing.

So I think it'll just be the 300. If I can get off early on Friday, I might just come down that afternoon.

well it looks like my certainty has reversed itself, money constraints and the need to spend time with my new car have made me pretty sure that I won't be able to make it :(

I can get us rooms at the Holiday Inn Express for around $65 or less per night depending on attendance. Please give me a final, for sure head count and I'll take care of it.

You know, I just read through this thread and didn't find anywhere that the final date was ever finalized. We planned to come the weekend of the 15 & 16. Brian seems to be coming the 22 & 23. When are others planning on coming? Or, did I already miss it?

Oh, guess I hadn't looked at the poll for a while, the 15th is clearly in the lead, sorry for the confusion. But yeah, someone should make it official. My schedule is very flexible so nothing changes for me.

Me and Deb will be there on the 15th, and spend the night. What time are we meeting down there and where?

I'll be there Friday night the 14th. I'll need a room that night and on Saturday night for myself only. Single room, single bed, no smoking is fine.

Edit again: The reason I ask is that it doesn't seem like too many people have discovered this is going on - I mean, several have but not nearly the NC population on the forum. Maybe this should be made a Sticky on the tech help forum and/or the diesel discussion forum since there's official dates decided and everything, just to let everybody know who doesn't come over to this board often. I personally found it by accident and didn't know it was here.
