Homemade Polyurethane Engine Mounts - bushings

Each product is different; READ THE Polyurethane DIRECTIONS FIRST...

Failure to FOLLOW the product DIRECTIONS and WARNINGS can cause potentially dangerous issues.

Please note:
Many people find Polyurethane mounts to be harsh.
Racing - extreme sport people love them.
If there are no original equipment mounts, bushings available this is a good option.
Some discontinued plastic parts can also be re-cast in Polyurethane, depending on required hardness and the temperature/environment it will be in.

Stock engine mounts are usually around 40/45 hardness.
Extreme performance engine mounts can vary from 60 - 90 hardness for track racing.

FYI

I have gutted and re-cast three sets of SDL engine shock mounts over the past two years.

When the owner found out the cost of new shock mounts, they elected to (emergency repair) try Polyurethane Construction Adhesive "Liquid Nails" – No. LN-950.

All I can say at this point is if you clean - prep the parts, follow product directions and allow it to cure, Liquid Nails will work.
Of the six, none have failed yet.

I am experimenting with Urethane of a hardness between 60 and 90, as alternative to the high cost or lack of new rubber parts.

Rubber Hardness Chart

The durometer chart below gives you an idea of rubber hardness by application.

a. Shore 20A = Rubber Band
b. Shore 40A = Pencil Eraser
c. Shore 60A = Car Tire Tread
d. Shore 70A = Running Shoe Sole
e. Shore 80A = Leather Belt
f. Shore 100A = Shopping Cart Wheel
