Hello, thanks for pointing those two sources out. I have always preferred Haynes manuals for my U.S.A. cars over other non-factory manuals, but I felt they always fell short on the electrical schematic. Haynes looks like they try to make a generic schematic for all models. So I have always ending up buying 2, a Haynes and a factory manual. I will definitely get a Haynes Mercedes manual, but I still want something as good or better than what the Mercedes mechanics had to use. The pauldrayton link looks good too, since I believe the 617xxx engines are the same except for mounting brackets between the 123 and 126. Thanks, Bill

What is the best repair manual for W124

I have a 1989 w124 300 TE and I am looking for the best repair manual I can for this vehicle, I do not want to go Haynes, or Chilton, and it seems that Bentley has some type of owners bible but it does not have very good reviews.

I thought I could find shop manuals on eBay but there seem to be none available lately, I also have some cd's or dvd's that came with the car that is from Mercedes (I think) and while it does have a lot of maintenance stuff it does not go over repairs (i am looking for full disassembly and rebuild type stuff).

there are a ton of them available on eBay that are on CD or DVD but I do not want to get stuck with what I already have, or something worse. If someone could point me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated.

If you don't count CDs Haynes is the only choice for a 124 service manual. Not sure why you're eliminating it but it's very good.

I ma uncertain of the availability of factory service manuals for this model. However, that is what you really want. A book about the model / engine by Mercedes, the Haynes , Chiltons etc.. can get you buy if you are good, and in some cases they have very clear work progressions. But often they make mistakes, misconstrue data, take bad pictures and use crumby paper.

Mercedes paper manuals, then Mercedes manuals on CD.

All of those issues have been covered hundreds of times in the diesel forum.
I suggest you search, and use the forum instead, it will save you money.

Other than some shop manuals MB did not print anything post 93, they were forced by the federal govement into supplying documentation. The DVDs that are available look like photo copies of the shop manuals, the later ones i cant identify as to origin
I have the 140 dvd and it contains the identical verbage as my 92 intro to service manual, I cant compare but I was unable to get the complete service manual in 94.
My 210 is completely different in format

Lookin for a good repair manual

I was looking to purchase the DVD for 92 300SD 140 to do all repairs that I need to do on the car. But if this is a copy of the paper manual and some poor pictures black and white probably is not worth it for the money that they asking.

Those are maintenance manuals, not service manuals.

2001 CLK 430 SERVICE MANUAL

I'm trying to find out where I can download a service manual for a 2001 CLK 430. I just got this car two weeks ago and I do a lot of my own work so it will be very helpful. Also I have service B coming up in about 1000 miles can anyone tell me what needs to be done for service B? the car has 51K on it.

Thanks Jerome

Call 1-800-FOR-MERC and they will mail you a hard copy of the service book. They're not too expensive. You might want to get an owners manual too if you don't have one.

Thanks to all for this quick reply.

I am interested in a W210 manual, hoping it covers Diesel engine 320 CDI
