Climate control- convert to manual heat
OK, I've read all the posts I can find about the Climate Control System for my 1982 W123 300D. I know about the mono valve issues, the recirculating pump and all the vacuum switches on the console. I am aware of the location of all the vacuum pods and have found that several of mine hold no vacuum.
in my particular situation, I get lots of air blowing in the heat mode, but very little of it escapes into the actual cabin! None comes out the floor vents. Very little comes out the dash vents (center and driver/passenger vents), but what comes out of those is hot. The AC works (so long as I keep it charged (slow leak). Here's what I'm hopeful someone can help me identify. If I remove panels on the passenger side and driver side (lower panels on each side of the console), where is the door located that allows air to flow to the floor? I've slowly got this car restored to the point that I am comfortable driving it anywhere daily. I've recovered the seats, installed aftermarket cruise, fixed the sunroof, new drive shaft.... Anyway, I don't want to replace all the components in the climate control system, I simply want to install a "push/pull" cable assembly for the door that opens the box to heat on the floor. Any ideas? Thanks! Dennis |
