For Sale: 1990 Lexus LS400 $6500

1990 LS 400
140K Miles, burgundy exterior, light beige interior

Just installed Dunlop M3 snow tires and driven about 150 miles with them. They're pratically brand new.

Immaculate condition. All services have been done by Lexus and never by any private shops. Oil changed every 3000 miles, pristine condition. Lexus has all receipts from the day the car was delivered, brand new to first owner, till today. Immaculately maintained and taken care of.

Factory options included :
Phone, Air suspension, Height control, Nakamichi Audio, heated seats, traction control.
The air suspension works perfectly.

After market options : Viper remote start with trunk/door lock/unlock w/alarm. (original factory alarm and options are still intact and 100 percent functional with the key. I installed this for the remote start option). ($1000)

Family car since brand new. All records available and service done only at one lexus dealer in NJ since new. was bought from them as well.
Work Done so far : (I've included the prices that I paid the dealer for the repairs. as mentioned earlier all paper work is available for the next owner if needed)
A/C fan, clutch, compressor, hoses have been changed 5K miles ago. At this point nothing is left to be changed for the A/C system and works perfect. ($3500)
All the needles in the cluster have been replaced, since they kept going out through the life of the car. All needles have been replaced within the last year. ($1200)
Power steering pump has been replaced 5K miles ago. ($1050)
All 4 callipers were installed , factory new, along with brake pads / callipers . ($1400)
Fan betl, timing belt, and water pump changed ($1750)
Differential service done ($300)
60K , 90K, and 120K service done from the dealer.
Asking price is $6500 firm.
You can contact me via email or post reply here with your contact and I will email you.
The car is in NJ.

Despite being a car with over 260,000 kilometers, $4500 seems reasonable taking into account that the major problem points (especially those cursed power steering pumps on the LS400) have been addressed. I would watch out for the air suspension, though (ugh).

In my opinion, I think the first generation was built with better materials than the 2nd and 3rd LS Class. Sometimes I'd wish I had kept my '91 instead of trading it for a 2000! Having the 5-speed transmission is a big improvement, though.

Good luck with the sale!

This takes me back. I was on my way to the bank to get a cashier check to pay for a red over tan 90 LS400 with 188K miles no air suspension no Nakamichi when I saw a 91 300SE with a for sale sign. Guess where the cashier check went instead? The SE was nice until I found an SDL then later a LWB W140. Can't see myself going back to a 126. So what am I doing in a 124???

I agree. I have owned two LS400s... one a 1990 and one a 1991. Had about the best quality interior materials of any car ever built. The newer ones definitely went down in this area.

I know all about those power steering problems too... lol. My 1990 had 250K, no problems, but my 1991 had "only" 230K and it had developed a leak, but turns out it was only the hose. Also had that smoke on startup because the fluid was bypassing the valve. Got that fixed, then the pump would sometimes act like it wasnt working. I sold it for $2300 last January (had paid $4000 for it!). I kinda miss it.

Yours looks too good to break, a guy across has a kid that who has a riced up SC400. He tells me a good used engine can be had for very little.

Maybe we should all sell our Benzes, buy Toyotas/Lexuses, and disband this web site!
