2004 C240 4-Matic Wagon Come off Lease, Anyone Looking

We are in the final 6 months of a lease on our 2004 C240 4Matic Wagon. It has been a good car for us but I won't buy it so I thought I'd offer it here first before turning it in. It's been dealer maintained (up to '04 all routine maintenance was paid by M-B on all new cars). The warranty will expire about the same time as the lease does, so it will no longer be covered. It presently has about 42K miles on it and will have around 45K when the lease is up. The buyout is $17,615 which is what I am offering it for...you may ask..why not just turn it in?

Well, two reasons...one is I know the history of the car and thought someone might want it here for what is a reasonable price. The second reason is the bank charges me $395 to turn the car in....so then I don't have to pay that if someone buys it.

I just put a new set of V-Rated Michelin Pilot Exaltos on it last month so it will have plenty of tread on them when the time comes. I also have a set of winter mats which will go with it. The car is Tanzanite Blue Metallic/Java MBTex interior. Winter package (heated seats), sunroof and CD changer included. Car gets low 20's MPG around town to 25+ MPG or so on the highway. The 4Matic is wonderful for winter driving...combined with the stability control the car drives like it is on rails in several inches of snow.

So, if you think come spring you will be in the market for a nice wagon contact me. If you need it sooner the bank will allow an early buyout which I am amenable to also...the cost will be a little higher...because the car will be several months "newer"...but if you can wait until April the car can be had for $17,615.

Thanks, hopefully someone will want it - it would be a shame to let it go into wholesale auction.

We just got it back this morning from the dealer's last pre-paid "B" service so it should be all set until this time next year or about 12K more miles. Next service will be the "A" service...the cheaper one.

The Don is correct- I also must say the color combo is spot on. As a wagon man I think my wife would be happy with this one. IF I can sell the SL AND her wagon before spring comes I'll be in contact.

FWIW the car is leased from and owned by U.S. Bank who could finance the purchase, pending credit approval of the buyer.

that is a pretty wagon. The house in the background is almost identical (appearance wise) to one I lived in as a child. What are you guys gonna replace your wagon with?

We haven't decided yet...my wife likes the idea of one of the new hardtop convertibles with back seat, like BMW and Volvo have. It probably won't be another M-B since their HDC is a 2 seater and the 4 seater is a soft-top which I am against.

Funny you mention that. Mother just recently sold her 2003 CLK Cab with 22k and her sister/my aunt has a 2000 c70 convertible garage queen for sale now with 51k miles. Both are/were softtops. Mother just went to a used sl55 with the hardtop and it is nice. In my opinion the car has less cowl shake and has a more rigid feel when the hardtop is in place. I do like that new Volvo c70 it is very nice
