$74,950. 300cd 1982

I am guessing this is either a typo or I am going into the convertible conversion business.

Either that or they're pretty damned proud of that car!

I emailed them through their website and basically said "is it safe to assume that the price for this car has a zero at the end which does not belong"...haven't heard back though other than a canned reply.

I've got a 300TD once owned by, by, . . . umm what movie star/celebrity do YOU like? It was owned by them, yeah, and it's only $85,000.00. Only one like it! Act fast. Supplies are limited . . . .

So which is it - (a) one too many zeros or (b) $74k sounds about right?

If it's a Crayford, then $7400 would be worth doing (not for me however, I don't need another convertible). Of concern would be the mismatched centers on the gauges.

I'm not gonna buy ANYTHING that the owner sits in and revs to 5700 rpm for a photo op. OR, anything that is priced at 10X market value but has an inop tach. Either way......

Well at least now when I drive my hardtop 300CD I can know that a celeb like Barbara Streisand also drives a 300CD too.

In Brooklyn in Junior HS I had her brother David as a substitue teacher for a week. NIce guy .

He looked just like her ...lol ..big schnozz too.

As far as value it is what it is. if it is worth 10,000 as a hardtop.........then to me it is worth maybe 16.000 as a convertible.

Not 74,000.

Hmm so celebrity value inflates the value by 4x the purchase price? My semi-celeb 6.9 is worth $200,000 then

A friend of mine has an original General Lee, 69 Charger from the original "Dukes of Hazzard" series. It was signed by all of the cast from the original t.v. series, and came with a whole bunch of extra "Dukes of Hazzard" crap. He still only paid $12k for the car, in mint condition, in 2001. I don't see how this little 300CD here could possibly be worth more than $7,500.00 out the door. No matter who owned it, or how nice it is. The original convertible factor, could possibly kick it up to something in the neighborhood of $9,500.00, but that's still a long shot.

Well, this 280CE convertible was bid up to just over $5k...but didn't meet the reserve. They were looking for $7 though, so pretty close to the CD. Then again, CD's are selling for 2-3 times that of a CE if not more. Just got my Roadster for $1225...and my latest CE for $350 (inop motor).

I would not think that the General Lee would be a very limited production car. They must have gone through a TON of those in making that TV show!

Note, he said Barbara Streisand owns one like it, not this one. OK, so how many famous people owned cars like all of our Benzes? I had a nice 560SL, so did Johnny Carson and other famous people...so does that make mine more valuable?

That's a good poit. People will hear only what they want to hear. Just throw out some interesting tidbit like that, and they'' eat it up. Later they'll swear you told them blah, blah, blah . . . .
