1982 240D 4 Speed

I am selling my 240D. I have owned it for 14 years and have the desire to get an 80's SL and don't have the room for both. I have been a member of the forum for several years and have really enjoyed reading all of the posts and also receiving help in maintaining my car.

It is an Alabama car and has no rust. Original paint is in good shape with only a few minor dings and scratches (amazing shape for a 26 year old car). It has had the drivers door repainted, but no major body work anywhere that I know of. The engine is still strong, and starts right up, even in the cold. I just overhauled the A/C with a new compressor (the old one had a seal leak). Unlike other 240D's I read about on ebay and other places, this car does not get 50 mpg, but instead gets about 26 around town and maybe 28 or 29 on the highway, if you keep the speed down. The interior is fair. The drivers carpet and seat are showing the most wear. The dash had cracks, but I covered them with a dash cap, which I believe looks very good. I just purchased a new set of Mercedes floor mats that will help the interior looks considerably. The car is ready to go and could be driven anywhere.

I am asking $2500 or would be interested in trading for an SL.

Hmmm. Is the A/C still R12? *pondering* I sure could use another four-door....

I pondered the use of R-12, but finally decided against it due, to its incompatibility with R134A oils.

Listed the car on Craigslist Thursday night....sold it to the first person to come look on Saturday. Obviously, I underpriced it? Or maybe I should be thankful it didn't sit around for months!

I'm siding with the thankful side of it. There's times when I would have taken less on cars to avoid headaches.
