1992 400E, Reliable, Solid, Lots of Receipts
I'm selling my trusty 1992 400E. A thick file of receipts outlining all maintenance including full synthetic oil changes every 5,000 miles, plugs, plug wires, rotors, caps, all filters, brake pads, rear suspension parts, new radiator and numerous other maintenance items. This car is very reliable and I would easily put my family in this car and send them across country.
It basically sits all summer and I drive it primarily in the winter, or one of the kids drives it. Mainly it sits, I need a truck for rentals, therefore it must go. This is what it needs. The auxillary fan clutch is out and will need to be replaced if driven in hot weather. I very seldom did, and have elected not to replace it. Was not worth it for how little it was driven. It leaks a small amount of transmission fluid from the forward area of the tranny. It takes a small amout of fluid about every six to eight months and does not affect the tranny in any way. The paint is beginning to peel in various areas. My mechanic is available as a reference and can discuss the tranny leak for you. It comes with two keys, manual, Blizzak full winter tires and a set of summer tires. Not sure of tread life. It has a newer Alpine head unit, all new Alpine speakers, an Alpine 12" sub and a Phoenix Gold amp. The stereo alone was well over $1,000, and many thousands in recent maintenance. Being a winter car I have to ask about rust issues? Body panels and/or undercarriage???
Looking "with purpose" for a W124..... BTW, is that oil pressure gauge working??

Looks like it sold. I was curious about the rust issue, but for $1500? I want one.

Yes, it just sold. Thanks for looking! I've often wondered about the oil gauge as well, however, my mechanic says it is normal. It moves in a very responsive manner and jumps up with the revs.
