If it was the speedometer reading, I was trying to say that regardless of whether it's a manual or automatic, where the speedometer is connected, there's no slip in the drivetrain that requires any speedomster allowance or variation. Assuming an automatic (or clutch) was slipping like crazy, allowing the engine to scream at 5000 rpm to push the car at '65 mph, (almost like what my automatic 240D sounds like on the freeway) the speedometer should still accurately register 65 mph.
