1968 280SE Los Angeles for Sale

Need to sell my 280se. Would like this to go to loving enthusiast who likes to tinker. Uncle was original owner.

See pics here:

Brief history:

1968-1985 NYC car, stored in Midtown garage. Uncle's daily driver mostly to golf course, NY-NJ
1985-2005 shipped to second home, stored in garage, driven few times a month, maintained by mechanic regularly during this time.
2005-2009 - driven daily until 2 months ago, put $$ to fix up. put on approx 4000 miles during this time. Serviced every 6 months

Approx 108,000 miles. Engine very strong. Starts, runs drives like new car. ATF slow leak and steering fluid slow leak are only issues, I top off fluids once month. Also needs driver side window regulator. I purchased new car for daily driver.

Thousands in receipts. Newer items:

OEM exhaust
OEM battery
water pump
tires
starter
alternator
headlights

Regularly serviced.

Car is perfect for weekend driver, someone who loves these cars and would like to tinker on this one on the weekend. Not perfect, as per pictures but honest original car.

I will take $2000 OBO.

Did you make a mistake and mean 20,000 OBO?
2,000 seems like an incredible deal.

It's about right for a 6 cylinder W108 , unfortunately.

Someday, we're going to look back at all these missed opportunites. I've got a 71 W114 250C and the cost of rebuilding the head likely exceeds the value of the car. That's ok, I'm not going to sell it...

It's amazing what you can buy decent W108 and W114 cars for. Other than the W111 convertibles, and to a certain extent the similar coupes, 60s and 70s MBs are duds on the market right now. SLs and 600s excepted, of course.

Also, the cost of replacing those leather seats seats is significant, and does a lot to depress the price.

Love the W108. Wish I had the time and room for one.

Jim

When was it repainted? Love that white steering wheel. Is it original?

Does this car have air suspension? If so, does it work?

No air suspension on a 108... the 109s had the airs.

Oh my!! This car is beautiful. Someone needs to step up. $2000 is 1 level above stealing it.

It does look like a nice honest car. The leather is wonderful but when it goes it goes.

My 82 coupe's leather is about like that.
