The Cheap Wagon Club
O.K. , I'm in So. Cal. and looking at beater 300TD's for hauling our Foster kids 'round in . turbo is a must .
Most $700.00 ~ $2,000. TD's are rusty thrasher junkers , pre turbo to add injury to insult . I'm a Mechanic and can fix one up over time but I cannot afford to purchase a nice one for $7K all at once (more's the pity as there's scads of those here) . Anyways , any comments or offerings ? . I have cash in hand and expect to drive one home , repair the usual stuff : HVAC , tires , shocks , seats etc. , etc. but I'd rather not buy one that smokes like a train ,my Coupe does that already although it runs *tits* , hauls ass and gets 27 MPGs . (only 500 miles per quart of oil tho') Light colors are a plus , any leads appreciated ! . TIA , |
Any interest in this wagon?
Zach may part with it for the right price. He drove it from here to Sunny So-Cal. $23,000 in service records. http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/diesel-discussion/249372-gone-done-again-introducing-my-new-cwc-candidate.html |
OOPS !
Yes .
I goofed and responded to the original post about ROTchester . Can you have Zach contact me ? . TIA , |
I'm not close but I do have a wagon available if Rotchester doesn't work out. 3rd row seat also.
As a funny aside, it even has Rotchester's original front seats in it. Awesome seats!!!! :) Here was the seat swapping party.... http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c2...Smash005-1.jpg http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c2...Smash006-1.jpg |
I left him a message. Its been a great wagon for him, but I remember him mentioning one of his uncles having a spare car he can have.

Jimmy
I'm interested , especially if it's not rusty .
Travel to TEXAS is great , that's where I found my first ('78 ) 300CD whilst on vacation driving to Louisiana right after Katrina , bought it then had to drive TWO old Mercedes Diesels on to La. and then back home again , no worries . send me pics and particulars OFF LIST please . I appreciate ALL LEADS ! . I know money is tight right now but I actually have cash and will use whatever Wagon I get for it's intended purpose and cherish & maintain it . I'm not only a DieselHead but also a Journeyman German Car Mechanic. |
Jimmy's car has ALOT less rust, and better off mechanically.
You'll have to expand that budget a bit, though it would be well worth it. |
Understood !
My budget is flexible and as I said , I have ca$h in hand for the right car .
I can of course , purchase a *pristine* one locally for just under $7K (museum piece) but I'd like to eat too . I know zip about Jmmy's car but I asked him for the details and pictures.... I'll be in and out ths weekend but I will look carefully at anything he sends me . I might still be able to use ROTchester too . Car sales have been flat nationwide but I'm here & ready to purchase . |
You just missed "Chameleon"; the current owner took delivery on Monday, this week.
Jimmy has a thread in the Diesel Discussion forum on all the work he has performed. I can't find it, but he will be able to give you the link. |
