ebay: 1987 300SDL
No affiliation; ugly color scheme in my opinion, but seems like a damn good price for 88,000 miles on an 87 diesel.

looks great. i had a 85 300SD smoke silver but had the maroon interior.
BUT.. i bought 86 560SEL w/53K miles a few years back. looks beautiful. HOWEVER, do not think that because it has low miles, it's low cost. TIME is as much an enemy as mileage if not more. based on the mileage history this car has not been driven but 2,000 miles in 7 years!! you will for sure be spending $$ on it, particularly anything rubber. i.e. suspension parts. not saying don't buy it ( i would for sure if i was in the market) but be prepared and remember it's still a 24 year old car.

I'm definitely not patient enough to own an older diesel anyways; not when it comes to getting up to speed at least. Perfect for someone well versed in the ways of a Mercedes diesel, and willing to sort through all those rubber hoses and oddments though.
As for 560's I just need to replace my air intake plenums and I'm finished with EVERYTHING rubber aside from the rear suspension pressure accumulators, which haven't gone yet, surprisingly.

I never understood why black leather was/is so desirable. Unless it's winter, if the thing as parked in the sun, you can hardly touch anything in it until it cools off. Read: Serious-insta-assburn. Very nice looking car, though.

I've always liked Blue exterior with a grey ,palomino, saddle or mushroom interior myself. Gives them sort of a timelessly classy vibe.
These cars are way too big to have that much black leather everywhere, but thats only my opinion.

As well as pockets full of cash - because you don't spend it at the fuel pumps.

Little did I know it was the legendary rod bender, as I was seriously going to trade had it not been for that piece of info ![]() I don't like being quick, but I like the ability to go fast should I need to. If that makes ANY sense at all.

I'd like to know what my '99 300 ETD will do, but I'm not foolhardy enough to drive above 80 mph on public highways/streets. I've heard from a friend that it'll do 100 mph, before you can say Farfagnoogun.... *You were fortunate to not have bought that '90s something 350 diesel.

Looks like a tobacco interior.
Personally, I like black interiors, have had many colors and believe black to be the best looking. Tinted glass works wonders, you can get some very good IR reflective tints that don't darken much.
