1980 300SD, $7,000 invested, Selling for $2,000 Firm
I am selling my W116 300SD, the interior and motor are phenomenal, however, the body has some rust and repaint areas. With that said the car is still a catch. I have had A LOT of work done to it in the last year and have receipts for everything. This car is as reliable as they come, I have taken it on many road trips to other cities and neighboring states, she goes smooth at 85 all day long. 188K miles on the odo, has not worked for the last year though.
Here is a list of everything I have done: *New timing chain, guide rails, cam sprocket, valve covers, glow plugs, rear suspension springs, transmission bushings, and much more (9/09) $2423 *New thermostat, housing, bolts, coolant flush, etc (2 months ago) *Tie Rods and Alignment (4/09) $768 *4 Kumho 85,000 mile warranty tires, <3,000 miles (11/09) $362 *New Master Cylinder and system flush (2/10) $393 *Rear calipers (2/10) $486 *25 new lug nuts-$75 *new grille and other trim pieces All in all I have over $4,500 worth of receipts from April 2009 until now. Much of the work is still under the 1 year warranty. I have put my everything into this car with the hopes of making it perfect, but as a college student I do not have the means to carry on. To be "perfect" the car needs the following: body work, paint, AC compressor (it went out on me literally 30 minutes after purchase, is the original unit) and that is really it. I have noticed a very small coolant drip as well, it is nothing major. The interior wood and dash and MBtex is almost perfect, seriously. I have over $7,000 in this car and will let it go for $2,000, hopefully to someone who can allow it to reach its true potential. I will post more detailed pics later, especially ones that show the rust and imperfections as most of it can not be seen except when up close. Thanks for your time!!
