WTB: LWB 1992-1997 S-Class

By the end of January/first week of February, I will be ready to purchase another "work" vehicle and looking for a 1992 thru 1997 Mercedes S-Class sedan. I am wanting one in perfect running order and something reliable, records are a plus. Prefer a 1994-96 S420, but will consider all 6-cylinder or 8-cyinder models, as long as its a LWB model. No V-12 (S600) models please.

Looking for something under $6000 (and in line with KBB private party value). Prefer southeast USA region.

I have a 95 S420 I'd let go for $4500. Does have the original wiring harness, but no electrical issues yet. AC works along with everything else.

1995 Mercedes Benz S420 Long Wheelbase, Excellent Condition

Thanks for the reply and the info on your car, that is a nice one and the year I want! Also really wanting an S420 rather than an S500.

Kansas is a little further than I really wanted to go, lol, but I will keep this one in mind. Like I said, it will be the end of this month or the first of next before I am ready to purchase, but I will keep it on my list if you still have it.

Thanks!

Good grief!! That isn't far at all to find a nice example of what you want. Either this car or another, I wouldn't let less than half the country stop me!! Especially if you can trust the seller.......
I drove to Kansas for mine. Not quite as far as you, but I would have gladly driven quite a bit farther.
Good luck with your search. I think the year/model you are looking for is a good choice. Just be sure and find one where everything works!!

I just listed it and already had a few lookers. Now I'm out of town until Friday. I'm sure it will sell, its just nice doing business with forum members.

I forgot that the power antenna does not fully extend, but radio reception is fine. Also, the bulb for the passenger climate control is burned out. The SRS light stays on for up to a minute after startup, but always shuts off. I've had that on a few other cars.

I also have a black 98 S320 LWB that's getting the transmission replaced along with the head gasket. It will be alot more than $6000 though. Later sorted S320s tend to bring higher coin.

Thanks for the reply. It certainally is a beautiful automobile and you may have sold it by now.

I had decided to go with something cheaper now as a work car and also had the fever so to speak for a 1993-96 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham, which also command high prices these days.

I had a neighbor that had a garage kept 1993 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham that I had been admiring for years and the car became available for sale a couple of weeks ago at a heck of a deal, so I snatched it up. It only has 108K miles and belonged to an 80 year old woman. The interior is like new, as is the exterior, but sadly the car had fallen victim to last springs hail storms (hood and trunk has hail damage) that brought wide-spread damage city-wide last year and just so happened at the time, the car wasnt in the garage that night.

With that said, I guess I am temporarily out of the market for a 92-96 S-Class, but do one day want to own one of these beasts.

One of dads friends does have a nice 1992 Mercedes 400SE that he is selling for $1000, but something happened to the engine and the guy fixing it got it 1/2 way disassembled and then left it. I imagine it would cost $2000 or so to get it going again, so I passed on that deal. I am really wanting a LWB model anyway when I do get one.

Thanks again!

Yup, sold it at the end of January.

I have a 94 Roadmaster, which shares the same platform and production facility as the Fleetwood. Great cars.
