2005 E320 CDI $4000 235k miles

Burns a quart of oil every 400 miles. Has a new water injection system. To help it stop burning oil. Cold A/C , Heat works (overflow tank leaks out the bottom needs to be fixed also) otherwise a great car for the money. $4000 is my payoff.

Info.

I can not do picture unless you email or text me. Send me a private if it is important. Car is black with gray interior. A little dirty inside and out but will clean up well. It has navigation but I do not have a disc. Heated seats work good. Power seats work good. Back seat has a 2 in V rip from a piece of luggage. It is glued back together but you can still see it. Sunroof opens and closes (rarely used). The A/C blows cold like it should and all of the climate controls work. Programs on the power seats work as well as the automatic lights and wipers. The drivers side squirt for the washer fluid fell off and sprays in the engine compartment not on the windshield.

The front bumper is in rough shape cracked with pieces missing. Bottom side does not has the underbelly cover and bottom of the bumper is scrapped up. The transmission cooler was rip off by a curb in a bumper mishap that caused the change to an aftermarket trans cooler. Seems to work good maybe even better. It is attached to lower front bumper again and if you look you see it.

It has been a grease car since 155k miles. The first 50k miles were easy 35 miles one way flush work all day then 35-100 miles at night flush and go to bed. The last 30k miles have been hard delivery miles around town. It was always fine with turning off for up to an hour and then restarting on grease. Apparently I did this to many time in the last year and on day after an oil change it started to use oil then blow by then more oil consumption so I added a water injection system to help clean out the engine. It has helped a little but it still sounds like a diesel and it still burns oil and with my new job it is still to small. It also wears out the tires every 30k miles. Which is every year for me.

Last week the grease system stopped working it would just shut off while driving sometimes. I have been running diesel all week and will look at it on the weekend. The grease system is a 38 gallon tank in the trunk and fuel pump. In the engine bay are 3 switching valves FPHE, semi filter that is coolant wrapped. The control switch is mounted on the side of the drivers seat.

Modification include new "cleaned" out cat, egr block off, egr emulator.

Robert

Another one destroyed by veg oil....it will cost far more to repair than its worth, the rings are probably a disaster, as well as the CDI pump. Amazing it still runs at all!

This is why the manufacturers explicitly say not to run such fuels in these engines.

Was it worth it?

That is the greater question. I figure I have save $10k in fuel savings driving this car. It was $13,70 when I purchased it. And it is more than that because when your fuel is free you drive harder, get to the speed limit faster and a generally have more fun. After driving older turbo diesels that had no power and the A/C broke down or just plan could not keep up, constantly.

This is still an amazing car. My wife is driving it now because I have needed the larger Jeep CRD (140k Veg oil miles) for the last year.

The injection pump is working perfectly. That was a cold clueless statement. And I think the water injection system is cleaning the engine very slowly. Only time will tell if it gets better or blows up. I could have traded it in for $2000 on a $9000 car but I did not think that was worth it, I am curious to see how long it will go for.

I think it was worth it running on SVO.

I removed the grease tank and reran the hoses so it is now a diesel car again. Next Up I have to remove the veg pump and FPHE I was think of leaving the semi truck filter in the car and having the diesel go thought that instead of the factory filter. If nothing else it would be a lot cheaper to change out. I will post this in the diesel discussion.
