FS: 1981 300TD + a WHOLE hoard (MA)

'81 TD. Adult owned.
~360k miles. It was a daily commuter from Cape Cod to south of Boston every day.
Rebuilt trans around ~160k ago. No issues in engaging, reverse (oooh!), and overdrive.
All around solid mechanical working order. It will still fire up first shot. No need to cycle the plugs.
We have receipts for everything that has been replaced (hefty folder), including OEM parts from junkyards, or our local Merc specialist.

The bad:

The shell is rotted beyond repair. Rockers are nonexistent, floors have some patches but still rotted in other areas. Rear quarters are like croissants; flaky and beyond repair. Thanks, New England.

Located in New Bedford, MA. Car has been off the road for 6 years. (although moves 2 times a year, and fired up 4 times a year to op temp)

Now for the hoard...

This is my old man's old commuter, and 2nd w123. The first one we ended up making it a parts car and stripped everything after he drove it til it literally rotted enough it wasn't safe to drive anymore.

We have totes full of things. Headlights, tails, regulators, wiring harnesses, clusters, interior pieces, 2-3 extra doors, starters, switches, extra seats, 2-3 sets of bottlecap benz wheels...

and an extra longblock stored just in case. It has no turbo, but it is a real 300td longblock from the last car.

It comes with new calipers, rotors and pads, and knuckles for the rear we have saved.

If I have serious enough inquiries, I can take photos of the totes that are stored to show the hoard. This would be perfect for someone who has a shell and wants to have extras, or build another car, etc.

$900 OBO for everything. We need to clean the house & garage for house upgrades!

PM'ing me would be best way to reach me first.

A couple comments:

1) This is actually a 300D, the "T" in 300TD indicates a wagon, not a turbo.
2) These cars don't have overdrive; the automatic tranny is a 4-speed with a 1:1 4th gear.

It does look like a nice deal for someone looking for a parts car, though... if I weren't in school, I'd be seriously tempted. If this is still around in late May, I may ping you. In the meanwhile, GLWS.

Thanks for the info. I forget it is the wagons. And it may still be here by then - I have had some interest but nothing sure yet. Really is a perfect parts car.

Let me send you a PM this weekend when I have more time... definitely interested in this stuff, I sold most of my W123 stuff back when I got rid of my '84 because I foolishly assumed I wouldn't need it again, so of course now I have a 1979 240D that needs a bunch of work .

Bump. Moved her around the block this morning and let her run for an hour. Still makes my old man smile how it still starts up. Gents, let's get this to a good home for parts. I want to see my old man be happy it will be reused instead of recycled.
