Fever, they are showing both the round knob as on my manual 5-speed 65’ 250se cabriolet and the handle as seen on your 1971 3.5 coupe in these exploded view drawings. Mine looks more like the 108 style hood and grill and your car along with the cabriolet have a grill and hood more reminiscent of the 114 chassis cars.
I was a regional sales manager for Mercedes during the 114 to 123 change, but am by no means an authority on this. The 1971 through 1973 were transition years for Mercedes body styles and engines and I’m curious if that shift handle was an early part of those changes, as it does look very much like the later style shifter. |
